Who are we?

Euskararen Etxea (which literally means the House of the Basque Language) is located in the San Ignacio neighbourhood. It was founded in 2004 as a result of collaboration between the Bizkaia Provincial Council, the Bilbao City Council and the Basque Government. Today, it is run by the Azkue Foundation.

Euskararen Etxea aims to be a benchmark for all those working in and for the Basque language, as well as for Basque citizens themselves. To this end, it offers a range of different services and resources:

BASQUE INTERPRETATION CENTRE

The exhibition offers the possibility of learning more about the Basque language from top to bottom and in a fun and imaginative yet accurate and scientific manner.

During their experience-based, playful tour around the centre, visitors can explore the multifaceted nature of Euskara, the Basque language.

SPACES

Stakeholders working in one way or another to promote the Basque language can use the spaces available in Euskararen Etxea free of charge.

These spaces can be used for presentations, training sessions or meetings. There are three different multifunctional spaces available.

COOPERATIVE WORK SPACE

This is a coworking area for entities, associations and/or private individuals working to promote the Basque language. It is a space designed to foster collaboration between people and organisations working to promote our language.
