The Basque Interpretation Centre (BIC) aims to convey the vitality and diversity of the Basque language. It also calls on everyone to make a personal commitment to it, since we can all make a meaningful contribution. In short, the diverse nature of Basque unites us; it all adds up.
The exhibition offers an entertaining yet detailed look at the language based on our senses; in other words, during their experience-based, playful tour around the centre, visitors can explore the multifaceted nature of the Basque language.
The exhibition at the Basque Interpretation Centre is divided into different sections:
- An updated database on the situation of Basque
- A historical overview of the language
- Playing with words in Basque
- Audiovisual campaigns about the transmission and diversity of Basque
- Future challenges facing the language
- The wealth and quality of Basque culture
Moreover, since Basque is linked to positive values, the exhibition aims to be optimistic, welcoming and broad-ranging.
All contents are available in four languages: Basque, Spanish, English and French.
We also offer free guided tours. You can visit the centre individually or as a group and schools can participate in the School Programme.
Entry is free of charge and the centre has generous opening hours:
Saturdays: 10:00 – 14:00 / 16:00 – 19:00
Closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
