The Basque Interpretation Centre

Years 4, 5 and 6 of primary

Joining words

In Basque, new words are made by joining existing ones. What does that mean? It means that by connecting different words, or adding prefixes or suffices, we can make new words with new meanings. In other words, Basque adds up and we can all add our bit to it.

In this game based on compound words, students will discover that Basque adds up.

The teaching unit is divided into two parts: an initial optional exercise designed to be completed before the visit in the classroom, and the activities organised by the Basque Interpretation Centre. Although the first part is optional, we highly recommend that you complete it in order to make the most of your visit.
